National Roundtable on Heritage Education
The National Roundtable on Heritage Education was founded in 2004 with a mandate to:
• understand the current state of heritage education in Canada;
• strengthen the heritage education field by better understanding the market demand for heritage skills;
• establish a means for exchange between heritage educators that fosters inter-institutional co-operation.
The Roundtable meets annually to discuss topics of importance and to set priorities for the upcoming year. Since 2007, a Roundtable Steering Committee has been charged with advancing the aims of the Roundtable and to guide the subcommittees responsible for work on its priority areas. Current subcommittees: (1) Ethics and Professional Competencies; (2) Resources and Training; (3) Research and Publishing.
The next Roundtable meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2010 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
